With the amount of star power Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt has amassed since he arrived in the NFL, criticism has come his way. The three-time defensive player of the year continues to produce on the field but it is coming with a price.
Watt is showing up on social media everywhere, and outsiders are discussing every aspect about him except football. He makes it known he is going to live his life the way he wants to and take full advantage of everything in front of him.
This type of exposure, wanted or not, comes with critics and, at times, it comes to a point where Watt has to address the situation. No matter what happens, Watt is not going to change who he is.
“I’m going to go out there, I’m going to keep trying to inspire people. I’m going to keep trying to motivate people,” explained Watt.
“I’m going to keep doing what I’ve been doing,” he continued, “I haven’t changed anything I’ve been doing for my whole career. I’ve been doing alright with that so far, so I’m going to try to have more success.”
Watt is going to stay true to who he is and, he might enjoy the limelight, but that is his right. As long as he keeps producing on the field, that is the bottom line.
If people do not like what he does then they should take Watt’s advice.
“I think if people don’t want to see what I’m doing, they should probably stop following me.”
