The Houston Texans have signed their 4th round draft pick, running back Tyler Ervin to a four-year deal. Ervin's four-year deal is worth $2.887 million, including a signing bonus of $547,568. Ervin left San Jose State as the schools leader in all-purpose yards.
Ervin spent five seasons with the Spartans, where he locked up All-American honors. Playing running back, slot wide receiver, cornerback, and special teams, Ervin fits the mold of what the Texans look for in players: versatility.
In 2015, Ervin rushed for 1,601 yards and 13 touchdowns, plus he also caught 45 passes. His value rises when adding in his kick return ability. In 2015, Ervin had 23.9 yards per return and three kickoffs returned for touchdowns in his career. His final two seasons, Ervin returned punts where he had two returns for touchdowns.
