2016 Houston Texans Player Profile: Alfred Blue

A closer look at the Houston Texans roster heading into the 2016 training camp.

Alfred Blue was the only real option the Texans had at the running back position last season due to injuries of other players, and he was able to grind it out between the tackles. The Texans use Blue as their “grinder,” and to move piles when trying to run out the clock. He progressively improved last season as the year went on, but his play sometimes is not flashy enough for some. His has been a constant in the offense and it is not expected to change.

The Rundown

Blue continues to grow in this offense and his ball security is something not to overlook. Blue will continue to be the back the Texans want to use in short yardage situations and they like his above-average work in pass protection. Blue is a solid back, just not flashy, but add in the fact he is a key piece on coverage teams and that is enough for the Texans to keep him on the roster.

Roster Situation

Will be on the 53-man roster
