Considered one of the top center prospects heading into the 2015 NFL draft, Greg Mancz injured his shoulder during a post season all star game. That injury caused Mancz to go undrafted and he landed with the Texans after the draft. Mancz worked at center and both guard positions throughout training camp and preseason games. He made the 53-man roster out of camp but was lost for the season. injuring his knee during practice and the team placed him on the injured reserve.
Mancz is still recovering from his knee injury and the hopes are that he is ready for the upcoming season. With two new centers in house, Mancz’s future is cloudy heading to training camp. He can hold his own at center but it appears the Texans are protecting their depth with their new additions because of Mancz’s inexperience and injury.
Mancz is a good enough player to make it in the NFL but whether it will happen here in Houston or somewhere else is largely unknown. Getting healthy and back on track is his number one priority.
