Jonathan Grimes was the Texans top running back last season when given the chance to touch the football. He showed he can run at a high level, catch the ball with a purpose, and pass protect well for a running back. He might not be the fastest back on the field, but he showed a knack for making defenders miss when he got space.
With two new competitors in the backfield, Grimes finds himself once again on the edge of the depth chart. He will do what he always does when training camp arrives: stay steady and do exactly what is asked of him. Grimes also does one thing that not many of the backs on the roster do and that is cover on kicks. Grimes is a valuable piece for a football team due to his versatility as a player.
Fringe player on the 53-man roster; will come down to how the coaches set the number at each position.
