Jadeveon Clowney entered his third training camp with the Houston Texans. He has put in some good work over the offseason and it is noticeable on the field. Cutting weight and looking to be a full time contributor in 2016, Clowney is catching the attention of many involved in the team’s training camp, even Brock Osweiler.
“Clowney has a presence when he’s on the field. You know when No. 90 is out there,” said Osweiler of Clowney.
A good start to camp has been highlighted with extra work put in by Clowney on special teams, something he has not done in the past. Running down in coverage and working coverage skills, the Texans are making sure he is in shape and constantly working on his game.
Bill O’Brien has high expectations for his former first round pick.
“He’s healthy. He’s had a really good offseason,” explained O’Brien. “When he has played for us in the past, he’s played very, very well. He’s made a lot of plays. He’s an explosive player. We look for him to continue to get better out here every day and then make a lot of plays for us in the fall.”
O’Brien didn’t stop there on Clowney.
“He’s a very smart player. He’s an instinctive player,” said O’Brien. “He’s very good in the meetings. He understands multiple positions. He can do a lot of different things. He can play outside backer. He can play defensive end in a four-down scheme. He can go inside and do a number of different things. So he definitely understands his role.”
