The Houston Texans are working with a new offensive line that will be highlighted by free agent acquisition Jeff Allen. The Texans received a first hand look at what Allen is as a player when they played against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Texans saw Allen as a physical presence, clearing lanes in the run game. His attitude and aggression is what the organization wanted when they signed him in free agency.
The Texans interior of the offensive line is taking on a new identity and Allen likes what the group has done early in training camp.
“Everyday, I think we’re coming out and we’re getting better. Right now, we’re working on our communication, coming together and coming off as one,” said Allen.
With a shuffling at the offensive tackle position, there is even more need for Allen, Xavier Su’a-Filo, and Nick Martin to come together quickly. Allen understands that the group as a whole needs to keep working to get on the same page.
“As you know, as an offensive lineman, if one of us doesn’t do our job, it’s usually not a good place. As long as all five of us are doing our jobs, it’s going to be good.”
Allen had more to say about his first Texans training camp.
