Houston Texans starting center Nick Martin suffered a high ankle sprain today putting his status for the season opener in doubt.

Houston Texans rookie center Nick Martin appears to be set to miss the season opener after suffering a high ankle sprain today in joint practices with the New Orleans Saints. Martin was blocking his man and was rolled up by his own running back after he was tripped up at the line of scrimmage. Martin immediately reached for his ankle when he hit the ground which caused immediate concern from team personnel. Martin just returned from a back issues that kept him out a week before returning at the beginning of the week.

The Texans will have to figure out if Greg Mancz or Tony Bergstrom will be their starting center moving forward until Martin returns. The Texans are missing three of their penciled in starters for the start of the season.
