Updates on the Houston Texans injury situation.
Nick Novak (Concussion)
Nick Novak suffered a concussion trying to make a tackle on his final kickoff of the game after trying to slow the returner. It was clear something was not right after he laid on the ground. He was slow to get up and was immediately taken to the locker room by team personnel. Novak is now in the concussion protocol.
Ka'imi Fairbairn (Quad)
There were questions on why Ka'imi Fairbairn did not kick against the New Orleans Saints but now it is clear that he was injured. Fairbairn did kick on Thursday so it will be something to monitor if he starts kicking again when practice starts up and right now he is considered day-to-day.
J.J. Watt (Back)
Bill O'Brien mentioned that J.J. Watt will be back "sooner rather than later" which gives no real insight into any time table. He did mentioned that Watt has picked up the pace on his rehab so that is a positive on a situation that has been kept under lock and key.
Alfred Blue (Shoulder)
Alfred Blue has missed over a week and a half with a shoulder issue that has kept him out of two preseason games. He is expected to be back this week which will change the depth chart of the running back group.
Starting Offensive Tackles
Nick Martin (High Ankle Issue)
Bill O'Brien acknowledged that Nick Martin could need surgery on his injured right ankle but it was "too early to say". Martin was rolled up on in Thursday's joint practice with the New Orleans Saints by a running back and was described as a high ankle sprain. Either way, there is something not looking the best if they are determining if surgery is an option.
