Houston Texans Lose Nick Martin For the 2016 Season

Houston Texans rookie center Nick Martin will miss the 2016 after undergoing ankle surgery.

In some unfortunate news, the Houston Texans have lost rookie center Nick Martin for the season after injuring his ankle during a joint practice with the New Orleans Saints. Drafted in the second round out of Notre Dame, Martin was the penciled in started for the Texans moving forward. Martin underwent ankle surgery from Dr. Robert Anderson in North Carolina which will end his season and is expected to miss up to four months.

With the unfortunate news, the Texans will have to turn to second year center Greg Mancz as their starter moving forward. Mancz has been getting work as the center with Martin out with the first team offense, so there are some positives in the situation in terms of experience.

The Texans now have to figure out their depth chart moving forward and this opens the door for both Tony Bergstrom and Oday Aboushi to potentially make the team.
