Rookie Joel Heath Lands On the Houston Texans 53-Man Roster

Michigan State rookie Joel Heath lands the the Houston Texans 53-man roster.

Every season, rookie free agents make an impact, showing they can handle the NFL despite going undrafted. Add defensive end Joel Heath to that list of players who fought their onto an NFL team as he makes the Houston Texans initial 53-man roster heading into the deadline. 

Heath was a solid run defender the entire preseason and showed some pass rush ability from the interior. With the Texans looking for help, Heath put together a strong showing with 8 total tackles, one sack, a fumble recovery, and three quarterback hits. 

At 6'6" and 260 lbs., Heath gives the Texans a younger player who can contribute as a run stuffer in year one, with more upside to achieve in the coming years.
