Brennan Scarlett sat out half of training camp with a hamstring injury that had him on the non-football injury list when training camp opened. When he was finally healthy enough prior to the second preseason game, he made an immediate impact and never turned back. The Texans were looking for another outside linebacker to compete their depth chart and Scarlett was clearly the best choice as the preseason wore on.
Scarlett had nine total tackles with two sacks, three tackles for loss, and a forced fumble. He led the team in sacks during the preseason with limited work in the preseason games.
He will be expected to contribute on special teams and, given his initial work, is an intriguing defensive player to watch over the course of the season.
