The Houston Texans look to be preparing for life without J.J. Watt as reports have surfaced that he recently re-injured his back. Watt has not been himself of late and there is reason to believe that he was injured in Thursday Night's game against the New England Patriots.
Watt was lacking his normal acceleration and burst off the line of scrimmage in his pass rush, as well as his ability to hold up against the run. Watt, on the season, has 1.5 sacks in three games, but it was clear he was not at the All-Pro level at which he has operated since arriving to the NFL.
The Texans will have to regroup and figure out their defensive line front with the absence of Watt. Expect the Texans to place Watt on the injured reserve in the coming week.
