The Houston Texans had to shuffle their offensive line situation with the recent injury to Derek Newton, who injured the patellas in both of his knees. The Texans placed Newton on the injured reserve and have re-signed offensive tackle Jeff Adams.
Jeff Adams has been with the Texans for the past three training camps and on the active roster for the past two season. The Texans claimed Adams off the waiver wire in 2013 from the Tennessee Titans to fill their swing tackle role.
In 2015, Adams started two games on the offensive line before he tore the patella in his right knee, landing him on the injured reserve. Adams spent the entire off season and training camp with the Texans in 2016, but was released on the final cuts heading into the season.
Adams has been signed for depth, working behind Chris Clark and Kendall Lamm who are ahead of him for the right tackle position.
