The Houston Texans have signed running back Akeem Hunt off the practice squad prior to the trip to Jacksonville.
In one of the tougher decisions for the Texans, Hunt was cut prior to the deadline for the 53-man roster. Hunt made a strong showing during the preseason to push for a roster spot but it was not enough for the running back depth chart.
During the preseason, Hunt rushed for 86 yards at 2.9 yards per carry, with five receptions for 36 yards, and 2 touchdowns.
With injury issues to the running back group with Lamar Miller (shoulder), Alfred Blue (ribs) and Jonathan Grimes (illness). Also, Hunt can help in the return game, both kick and punt, if needed.
