Ufomba Kamalu Signed to the Houston Texans 53-Man Roster

Rookie defensive end Ufomba Kamalu is being signed to the 53-man roster ahead of Sunday's contest with the San Diego Chargers.

The Houston Texans are deailng with injury issues on the defensive side of the ball. The Texans to prepare for Sunday with John Simon already being ruled out of the game have signed Ufomba Kamalu to the 53-man roster off the practice squad. Kamalu has been with the Texans all summer and with the practice squad since the season started.

A development player at defensive end since arriving during rookie mini-camp. Kamalu needs some time to add some good NFL weight and continue to work on his craft as a player. Kamalu made a strong enough impression during camp and preseason, that the Texans wanted to develop him even further to see what he can be.

Voted Miami’s Defensive MVP over the likes of Artie Burns (1st round selection) and Deon Bush (4th round selection), Kamalu shifted between defensive tackle and end before settling into the 3-4 end spot his senior season. Still a raw player, Kamalu showed he has the intangibles needed to make plays with strength and hustle.
