The Houston Texans have made Brandon Weeden the backup quarterback for Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers with Tom Savage inactive for the game. This is Savage's first inactive game of the season, who had primarily been the team's backup quarterback.
Savage, according to reports, is inactive due to an infection that required antibiotics and there is no concern that this will be a long term issue. The infection was in his throwing arm elbow that caused swelling which required Savage to go to the hospital to receive further treatment.
Weeden will be the team's primary backup and will get paid $37,500 for his in game bonus if he is active with the team.
