The Houston Texans have waived cornerback Charles James from the 53-man, active roster. James was victimized against the Green Bay Packers and gave up the game-deciding touchdown to Jordy Nelson late in the 4th quarter.
James had spent the past three seasons with the Texans and has been a contributor on both special teams and also the defense as needed. His first season in 2014 was spent on the practice squad, while the past two seasons, he appeared in 21 games totaling 27 tackles and two pass deflections. James jumped into the spotlight after winning over the national audience with his appearance on Hard Knocks and his love for socks.
However, his play on the field was exposed in key pass situations this season and, with a Texans secondary looking for help, the Texans waived James to make room for former Pittsburgh Steelers corner, Al-Hajj Shabazz.
