Jadeveon Clowney Changes the Tide for the Texans Against the Colts

Jadeveon Clowney provided the game changing play to turn the tide of the Houston Texans against the Indianapolis Colts.

In the Houston Texans' time of need, they finally initiated the kind of game-changing play that they have been lacking for the past three weeks. On a third and 3 from the Texans 3-yard line, Andrew Luck was setting up to throw, looking for the go ahead touchdown, but Jadeveon Clowney beat Dwyane Allen with his pass rush to sack and strip the ball from Luck. That was the type of swing play that the Texans were looking for to get the momentum back on the Texans side.

“The play before, they tried to block me with a tight end and I stood him up. I was ready for him,” Clowney said. “They tried to come back with the same play. This time they tried to pass and I went around.”

“That was huge,” said Bob McNair of Clowney’s play at the end of the game. “That was huge, because they were down there, ready to score. It just turned it completely around. That’s what he does.”

When asked if it was his biggest play of his Texans career, Clowney answered, “Yea I do. It was big play at the critical play of the game.”

“J.D., when he’s played against the Colts, he’s played well,” head coach Bill O’Brien said. “He’s been a disruptive guy against the Colts and he was ready to go this week. He practiced well and he was ready to go. Needs to do it every week. We’re going to need him bad down the stretch here.”

Clowney, against the Colts, had 3 total tackles with 3 quarterback hits, 1 sacks, and 1 forced fumble. Additionally, Clowney’s hit on Luck in the 3rd quarter resulted in an interception by Andre Hal.
