Whitney Mercilus Not Expected to Play Against Jacksonville

Dealing with a back injury this week, Whitney Mercilus NOT expected to play against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Houston Texans outside linebacker Whitney Mercilus has been dealing with a back injury this entire week. Mercilus is not expected to play against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday due to his lingering back issue, leaving the Texans thin at outside linebacker. This could be the first game Mercilus has missed since 2014.

Mercilus on the season has 48 total tackles, a team-leading 5.5 sacks, 19 quarterbacks hits, and 11 tackles for loss. He also has 4 fumble recoveries on the season.

The probable loss of Mercilus leaves the Texans with the lack of edge presence outside of Jadeveon Clowney and the recently activated Brennan Scarlett
