The Houston Texans Re-Sign Nick Novak for the 2017 Season

The Houston Texans have re-signed Nick Novak.

The Houston Texans have re-singe kicker Nick Novak on the first day of the legal tampering period to open free agency. The Texans wanted to retain Novak for the 2017 season to compete with kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn for the starting job for the regular season.

Novak was an important player for the Texans in 2016 by being consistent connecting on 35 of his 41 field goal attempts (85.4%) ranking him in the top three in the NFL in field goals made. Novak finished his season season with the Texans and has made over 85% of his kicks and going for 51 for 56 on extra points.

The Texans have Novak for the 2017 as their veteran insurance plan for the upcoming season but will have to fend off the younger player in Fairbairn to retain his starting job for the third season in a row.
