Tony Romo Watch: The Houston Texans are Waiting for the Dallas Cowboys to Blink

The Houston Texans continue to sit and wait for the Dallas Cowboys to blink.

Texans Waiting Patiently

The Houston Texans continue to sit and work behind the scenes, trying to fill their roster heading toward the end of day two of free agency. The organization continues to wait for the Tony Romo domino to fall as Jerry Jones waits for a team to try and trade for the veteran quarterback. Signs still point to both Denver and Houston as the teams waiting for Romo but reports have said that the Broncos are just fine with their current options Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch.

Currently, the Texans have three possibilities concerning Romo.

a.) The Cowboys sit and wait for the Texans to lose patience and trade for Romo. The Texans are doing everything they can not to go this route, which would require them to give up a draft pick or player to acquire Romo.

b.) If and when Romo, who was supposed to be released prior to the start of free agency, becomes available, the Texans would be on the phone calling to check on Romo and sign him outright to a new deal that would fit into their plans. The cap space for the Texans is now wide open with the exit of Brock Osweiler to Cleveland, with literally nothing preventing the Texans from signing him to a reasonable deal with the future of the roster in mind.

c.) Romo's other suitor appears to be Fox, who want him as a commentator for their game day shows during the season. That would mean Romo would have to retire to get to the studio but that move appears to be on the back burner for Romo.

The good news for the Texans is that Romo wants to play in 2017 and appears to be ready to continue that either in Denver or Houston.

More importantly, Romo knows his future with Dallas is coming to an end as he pointed out in his video prior to the opening of free agency.

but until then.....
