The Houston Texans are set to workout Ohio linebacker Tarell Basham according to Jeff Ridson on March 28th. The Texans have met with Basham at the Senior Bowl, the NFL Combine and now are set to workout him out one more time prior to the NFL Draft.
Basham in 2016 appeared in 14 games and had 50 total tackles with 16 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks. Adding 12 quarterback hits, Basham was considered one of the top edge rushers in the FCS. A former freshman All-American, Basham was named the Mid-American Conference's Defensive Player of the Year for his season in 2016.
The Texans will continue to look for pass rushers, especially ones that can set the edge at the NFL level in the run game. Basham might have to tweak his game some at the NFL level and work on his bend to increase his pass rush ability but signs point to him being a solid roster player for the future.
