The Houston Texans have met with Florida Gators defensive lineman Joey Ivie at their Pro Day. Texans defensive coordinator Mike Vrabel was in attendance which gives the pro-day a little different meaning with him there.
Ivie is a 6-3, 301 lbs. defensive lineman that appeared in 11 games in 2016 and missed two games due to a broken thumb. With 26 total tackles, 2.5 sacks and 7 quarterback hurries, Ivie had extensive playing time the past three seasons.
At the Florida Pro Day, Ivie ran a 4.97 yard forty-yard dash, which is a solid time for his size and position. He also posted a 29 1/2 vertical and 26 reps on the bench press.
NFL circles appear higher on what Ivie can bring to a team than most draft analysts. Ivie is considered a late day two selection all the way to a potential rookie free agent.
