Digging Deep: 2017 Houston Texans Draft Preparation

A deeper look at the Houston Texans during the 2017 NFL Draft Process.

The Houston Texans meet with a large number of draft prospects prior to the NFL Draft, most will go unnoticed but some will not. A few things to understand about the draft process for NFL teams mainly the Texans.

The Texans will do baseline work on majority of the draft prospects coming out. They will meet with every prospect to get background checks most notably at the East West Shrine Game, NFLPA Collegiate Bowl and the NFL Combine. That baseline information is contact information, who they are represented by and most important background checks.

If the Texans do keep interest in players, they will ramp up their evaluations on certain prospects and send coordinators or position coaches to pro-days to get a better look at players. Those day should also include a dinner to get to know the player, one-on-one private workouts or just a simple follow up to gather more information.

Here is an extended list of Pro-Days attended, practices they visited during and prior to the season and college games attended through the year.
