State of the Texans friend Eric Kennedy (follow here) gives us day two prospects to watch as potential fits for the Houston Texans.
Round 2 (Pick 57)
I’m going to assume Forrest Lamp and Cam Robinson go early in Round 2, so here’s a few other players to keep an eye on in Round 2:
Josh Jones, NC State, Safety
Marcus Williams, Utah, Safety
Chidobe Awuzie, Colorado, Cornerback
Quincy Wilson, Florida, Cornerback
Zach Cunningham, Vanderbilt, Inside Linebacker
Dion Dawkins, Temple, OT/OG
Eric says: Either Josh Jones or Marcus Williams would present an upgrade in talent at a position (Safety) that’s thin. Awuzie is a real good all-around CB prospect, and Quincy Wilson is a corner who could convert to Free Safety. Zach Cunningham would bring speed at the LB position that the Texans have been lacking for years, but he needs to be tougher. Finally, many pundits project Dion Dawkins as a Guard, but he’s experienced at Tackle and deserves a shot at ROT. He could potentially start right away.
Round 3 (Pick 89)
The Texans could really go Best Player Available at pick 89; here goes:
Ahkello Witherspoon, Colorado, Cornerback
Cameron Sutton, Tennessee, Cornerback
David Sharpe, Florida, OT
Taylor Moton, W. Michigan, OT/OG
Collin Buchanan,Ohio, OT
Duke Riley, LSU, ILB
Raekwon McMillan, Ohio State, ILB
Marcus Made, Florida, Safety
John Johnson, Boston College, Safety
Eric says: You may have noticed I’ve not listed any Runningbacks above. My thinking is that the Texans will target a complimentary back to pair with Lamar Miller, rather than a feature back, and those types of players should be available on Day 3.
