Appearing in 38 games in four seasons at UCLA, Ankou at 91 total tackles for his career, 16 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. His best season came in 2015 when Eli Ankou appeared in 13 games with 47 total tackles, 5 tackles for loss , 1.5 sacks and three pass deflections from the interior of the defensive line.
Ankou, 6-6 330 lbs. an Ottawa native joins fellow Canadian Christian Covington who enters his third season with the Texans.
“I’m absolutely fired up to be working with them, for sure,” Ankou said in a phone interview with the Toronto Sun. “You never can expect where you’re going to end up. This is definitely a blessing to wind up with that organization.”
“Absolutely. Right after I got off the phone with them, I hung up and thought to myself: ‘I just did that. I’m with an NFL team,’” he said. “As a kid you always imagine yourself with an NFL team. Now the opportunity’s there. It’s just so good to be able to do this. It’s just a really good feeling.”
At UCLAs pro-day Ankou posed a 5.08 40-yard dash with 31 reps on the bench press.
