Rosenfels: It's Not Over Yet

Houston quarterback Sage Rosenfels talked to the Indianapolis media in a conference call earlier this week. See what the veteran had to say about the team's season so far, the strange finish in the earlier game against the Colts, playing for Gary Kubiak, and more!

On the up-and-down season:

"We're just going to keep fighting. We have a lot of high-character guys on this team, and we're going to keep fighting and just try to win the next one. The season hasn't gone the way we had hoped, but it's not over yet and there's a lot of games left."

On the tough finish against the Colts and if he puts that behind him or comes back and tries to do more:

"That game is over. It was over a long time ago. I've put that out of my mind. What that game I guess does is give me confidence. I feel like I played for the most part pretty well last time against these guys, and that gives me confidence to go out there and try to do that again, but just finish the game and hopefully the outcome will be reversed of what it was last time."

On trying to do too much getting you in more trouble:

"This is a team that you can't take many chances against just because they don't allow for a lot of big plays and they're so good at getting the turnovers. So you really just have to take what the defense gives you. This is like the definition of that type of team of how you can't try to do more than what the defense gives you."

On putting last week behind him as a quarterback:

"There's really nothing I can do about that. Two of the interceptions came really late in the game and at that point the game was basically over. I'm over that and I've moved on to the next game. The next game is a division opponent that we know well and they know us well. We haven't had much success against them in the past, but we're playing them a little bit better it seems like each year we play them."

On if he sees a different Colts defense from the first time:

"It is. Obviously Bob (Sanders) makes a big difference. He's one of the best players in the NFL. And they're playing with a lot of confidence right now. They were 1-2 when we played them before, and we did a few good things against them. But since really that game, that team has really stepped up their entire game. They're playing with a lot more confidence and they're playing fast and they're making things happen out there. And they've added a few wrinkles to their scheme, which makes it harder on the quarterback."

On the criticism of Head Coach Gary Kubiak and if the players take that personal or how do they respond to that:

"We all really like playing for Coach Kubiak and we wish those things weren't said, but the media is going to do what they do and they have that right. That's the head coach's job, is to take that criticism, and that's the quarterback's job, to take the criticism that we get after a loss or a bad game. That's I guess part of his job and part of our job, is to take the criticism. I think that our team is obviously excited to play this week and excited for the next seven games."
