The 2010, seventh round pick, Marc Mariani has fought through years of adversity in order to really prove himself not only to the organization but to the fans. As the 2014-2015 season approaches quickly, Mariani has made it very clear, his motives to stay in the game and rise above any negative input.
“When you battle adversity, it chooses you, you can be beaten by it or you can rise above it. I’ve had a lot of trials-and-tribulations to get where I am right now but I couldn’t be more blessed with the opportunity…”
While staying healthy is always a challenge for any athlete, especially Mariani with his record back in the 2012-2013 seasons, he still has to fight for respect in his position. He’s been a fan favorite since he joined the Titans organization but with players like Dexter McCluster and Nate Washington, there may be some competition.
“I came back to compete and to prove to everyone that I can play receiver and that I can return the ball like the past and that I am healthy. I know the numbers but I try not to worry about it too much. I’m trying to win a job in the receiver world and win a job in the return game and they’re two separate enemies to me but most importantly, I’m trying to stay healthy and get through camp. I want the ball in my hands and I want to make plays and the only way to do that is to get better everyday.”
It’s safe to say that the Titans believe in Mariani as well as the fans, what this really boils down to is Marc staying healthy and improving his game for himself and his teammates.
“I was unemployed for a little bit this year and the Titans have given me another opportunity to come back to do what I love to do and so that’s why everyday I’ve got to go fight and know that opportunities like this are few-and-far between.”
