Former Tennessee Titans inside linebacker Colin McCarthy has retired from the NFL.
McCarthey announced his decision on Thursday morning in a message on his Twitter account.
“Truly blessed to have played the game as long as I have!! To my family, friends, teammates and fans. Thank You!!”
McCarthy was the fourth round pick, 109 overall in the 2011 draft from the University of Miami. He became a starter at middle linebacker and was voted AFC Defensive Player of the Week and Pepsi Rookie of the Week following is performance against Buffalo when he recorded 9 tackles, 1 forced fumble and recovered two fumbles.
McCarthy, who turned 27 on May, 30 missed the entire 2014 season with a shoulder injury that required surgery to fix. He became a free-agent and had not signed with another team before his retirement.
