The musical roster moves continued on Monday for the Tennessee Titans as the team announced that they had resigned tight end Chase Coffman to the their active roster just one day after releasing him in a procedural move following the announcement of waiver claims and a trade.
Coffman lead the team in both receptions and yards in the preseason with 12 catches for 159 yards in the preseason.
While the exact reason for Coffman’s release is unclear, the Titans claimed, and were awarded linebackers David Bass and Steve Johnson off waivers and traded a conditional pick in 2016 to Cleveland for running back Terrance West on Sunday. Speculation was that the Titans were looking to make another move and needed a spot which prompted the release.
The move now leaves the Titans active roster with 5 tight ends and four wide receivers as they prepare for their season opening contest on the road this Sunday against Tampa Bay.
