Safety Michael Griffin is within reach of breaking into the top five in career tackles for the Oilers/Titans franchise.

Titans safety Michael Griffin is closing in on a top five spot in a major franchise record.

Tennessee Titans safety Michael Griffin was selected byt the Titans with the nineteenth overall selection in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He has been a fixture ever since. On Sunday Griffin can take another step closer to the top five players in franchise history in tackles for their Oilers/Titans career.

Currently Griffin resides in seventh place, just one behind John Grimsley with 835 career tackles. Griffin needs just 42 more stops to pass Al Smith for fifth place all-time on that list.

With a great season it could be possible, though unlikely that Griffinc could pass Ted Washington for fourth place on that list. It is unlikey that Griffin could climb higher than fourth place as he is entering the twighlight of his career an the tope three in total tackles are all over 1,200 for their career.

Still Griffin has a chance to enter rarified air this season, and will most likely move into sole possession of sixth place when the Titans face Miami on Sunday.
