Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota has passed for 2,786 yards and 19 touchdowns during his rookie season. He is 214 yards and one touchdown from possibly becoming the youngest quarterback in NFL history to reach 3,000 passing yards and 20 touchdown passes.
If Mariota (born Oct. 30, 1993) hits the 3,000-yard/20-touchdown plateau this week, he will do so at the age of 22 years, one month and 21 days. The youngest quarterback in NFL history to accomplish the feat is Drew Bledsoe. In 1994, during his second season with the Patriots, Bledsoe reached 3,000 yards and 20 touchdown passes at the age of 22 years, six months and 29 days.
However, by the time of the Titans-Patriots contest this weekend, Tampa Bay Buccaneers top pick Jameis Winston eclipesed the Bleadsoe mark with his 363 yard, two touchdown performance versus the St. Louis Rams on Thursday night. .
Mariota needs 214 yards and one touchdown against the Partiots to pass Bledsoe into second place behind Winston.
