New general manager Jon Robinson has his hands full in his new position with the Tennessee Titans as he must play catchup in getting to know his scouting department, head coach and others who he will work with closely in the upcoming weeks as the team works to evaluate both free agents and potential draft picks while building their draft board before April.
The Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama will be the first step in that process starting next week and there are some interesting prospects that will be on dispaly in that event.
The combine will once again take place in Indiapolis and that will be a key step in the process for Robinson and company to build toward April.
Currently holding the first overall selection in the first round, Robinson has a variety of options, including trading the pick to move down and acquire more selections or as Robinson stated" stick and pick" the player of their choice.
In looking at Robinsons history, though only a part of his former teams draft execution and not the actual decision maker, it is clear that Robinson is of the mindset of the Patriots who are not afraid to trade down and acquire more picks. He is also from the school of not necessarily selecting a player of need in several instances when there is a more talented, higher ranked player that can help at another position. However, Robinson has never had the first overall selection and in this case, if the team "sticks and picks" then it would seem very likely with him having every single player available at his finger tips, that he would go for the best player at a position of need with a team that has so many holes that need filling.
It is going to be an intersting few months as we attemtp to get to know Robinson, but his background is certainly intersting.
