Jaguars run past Titans 28-13

The Jacksonville Jaguars came to Nashville and turned the tables on the hometown Titans in a game that showcased their running game. With a a new quarterback under ceneter the Jaguars controlled the line of scrimmage throughout the game.

The Jaguars game plan was simple and they had no problem in executing it with the absence of the injured Albert Haynesworth On the day the Jags rushed for 166 yards while only yeilding 66 to the Titans. Maurice Jones-Drew put up 101 yards on 19 carries, and Fred Taylor added 45 more.

Jeff Fisher stated after the game "Their defense was certainly improved over our first matchup against them. So I am disappointed that we couldn't stop the run, which is our strength. Then we couldn't run, which is our strength. They stopped it and they ran it and that was the difference in the ballgame."

While Vince Young had a career day passing with 257 yards and his first TD pass in over a month. Despite the passing the Titans struggled all day to put up points.

Young stated "It is not frustrating. It is just to a point where we have to finish. Everyone knows what is going on as a team. As an offense, we know what is going on. We just have to finish and make plays. That is basically it."

On the team missing Albert Haynesworth playing in the middle, Kyle Vanden Bosch said " It's a big difference. Albert is a dominant player. He's such a force – he draws double teams in the run game and we missed him today. At the same time, the guys behind Albert, the guys that we played with today, they're good players. When we're playing without Albert, playing without Travis (LaBoy) everybody else has to step up and pick up the slack and for whatever reason we didn't get that done."

The loss drops the Titans into a tie for second place in the division with the Jaguars and a game behind the Colts. The loss was bitter pill for many of the players to swallow as Kyle Vanden Bosch said "They outplayed us today. They won, they're a good team, they had a good game plan. They came in here and they earned this win, but at the same time we just didn't make enough plays today. We've relied on, in the past - in these tight games, guys stepping up and making big plays and we were a few plays short today."

The Titans meet the
Denver Broncos next Monday night in Denver.
