Brett Favre's 171 yards passing move him into third place for most yards in a Viking's first two seasons. Warren Moon had 8,492 in 1994 and '95, and Fran Tarkenton had 4,592 in 1961 and '62.
Favre's touchdown moves him into fourth place for most touchdowns in the first two seasons. Moon's hold that record with 51, followed by Randall Cunningham and Tarkenton, who each had 40 in their first two seasons in purple. Favre has 34.
Adrian Peterson's 87 yards rushing move him into fourth place all-time in team history with 4,571 career yards. Robert Smith holds the record with 6,818, followed by Chuck Foreman with 5,879 and Bill Brown with 5,757.
Visanthe Shiancoe's 76 yards move him into fifth place among tight ends in team history. Jordan holds the record with 6,307. Stu Voigt is second with 1,919. Shiancoe has 1,561, putting second place within reach this year.
Jim Kleinsasser becomes only the second tight end in team history to start 150 games. Steve Jordan holds the record with 178 starts from 1982-94.
Ryan Longwell's three points move him into seventh place for most points scored in team history for a career. Fred Cox holds the record with 1,365, followed by Cris Carter with 670.
The Vikings' record vs. New Orleans is 20-9-0; in Louisiana, 8-7.
The Vikings' season-opener record is 28-21-1. This is the third game vs. the Saints on Week 1. The Vikings won 40-9 in 1976, lost 31-24 in 1978, and lost 14-9 in 2010.
