Vikings issue statement on next game

The Vikings still aren't certain if the Metrodome will be ready to host an NFL game next Monday night after the roof collapsed under the weight of 17 inches of snow early Sunday morning, but they are trying to keep their game in Minnesota either way.

The team issued the following release at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Minnesota Vikings are working diligently with the University of Minnesota and the NFL on preparing TCF Bank Stadium in the event that Mall of America Field at the Metrodome will not be ready for Monday night's Vikings-Bears game. Their cooperation has been tremendous.

The Vikings are committed to ensuring a home game in Minnesota for our fans. We will continue to update fans and media as the process moves forward, but at this time no further information is available.

Vikings interim head coach Leslie Frazier said the team's first preference would be to play the game at the Metrodome and, if not, they would like to keep it in Minnesota.

Shiancoe shaken after loss

Vikings tight end Visanthe Shiancoe calls it like he sees it, and he didn't see a good product on the field Monday night as his Vikings lost 21-3 to the New York Giants.

He called the loss "atrocious" and "embarrassing," he appeared to have tears in his eyes as he talked with passion about the play of the offense.

"Something's got to be fixed. This is atrocious. This is embarrassing. We looked like the Bad News Bears out there. We looked like the Bad News Bears," he said. "That's some embarrassing stuff to put on film in front of the whole damn nation. That's embarrassing and I can't put my finger on nothing. I don't understand it. We've got too much talent on this team. Too much talent on this team, especially on this offense. To not put up more than three points?"

You can see more of Shiancoe's comments on by going to the video box about halfway down the right side of the VikingUpdate.com front page or by going here.
