Percy Harvin might finally be migraine-free.
The Vikings have thought – or at least hoped – that Harvin's headaches were gone before, but this time it is Harvin saying he thinks he has a cure.
"I met a couple of doctors," Harvin told the Virginian-Pilot. "There were a couple of things they found in my neck that I won't get into – some things they found and fixed, along with diet and the rest of the things that can cause them.
"It's been great, and knock on wood, it'll continue."
The Vikings would like nothing more. He has missed countless practices and a few games because of the headaches or symptoms from them, and, in one of the scarier moments, even collapsed last fall on the practice field because of a reaction to the medication he was taking for them at the time. He was taken to the hospital in an ambulance and spent the evening there.
Harvin said he hasn't had a migraine in five or six months and this is the best he's felt "since I've been in kindergarten."
The Vikings could use a healthy, consistent Harvin this year. Receiver Sidney Rice could be an unrestricted free agent, depending on the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, and Bernard Berrian hasn't been much of a factor since his first year with the team in 2008, when he had 48 receptions for 964 yards and an NFL-best 20.1-yard average per reception. In 2009, Rice had his breakout year, catching 83 passes for 1,312 yards and eight touchdowns on his way to his first Pro Bowl.
Last year, Rice played in only six games because of a hip injury and Harvin played in 14, starting all but one, missing action with a severely sprained ankle. Harvin still led the team in receiving last year, catching 71 passes for 868 yards and five touchdowns and added 107 rushing yards. He set a team record for most combined net yards in a Viking's first two seasons with 3,992.
