Moss Reiterates Free-Agent Chant

Randy Moss isn't backing down on his contract stance, saying this weekend that he wants to win a Super Bowl, whether or not that chance comes with the Vikings.

What will the Vikings and Randy Moss do about a contract? That question continues to remain up in the air, as the Vikings All-Pro receiver continues to send out mixed signals about his future.

Moss, speaking at an autograph session over the weekend, said he expects his talent to get him the contract he seeks, but wouldn't be specific about whether he thought it would be with Vikings, instead saying he doesn't know if his future is with Minnesota. Vikings owner Red McCombs has been clear that he intends to sign Moss and Dennis Green has made similar statements.

Expect to see the Vikings start contract talks during this season and try to strike a deal before Moss could potentially become a free agent or force the team to franchise him.

* One thing that Moss has come to grips with is that his big pending contract was being jeopardized by potential injury playing basketball. Now that he sees the long green at the end of the tunnel, Moss has said he doesn't intend to play any more basketball in semipro leagues like he has the last two years.
* Making his first appearance as a former Viking, Robert Smith will take part in the Vikings Alumni Breakfast, benefiting Life's Missing Link, a charity founded by former Vikings Jim Marshall and Oscar Reed. The breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Gate D Pavilion Tent at the Metrodome and run until 11 a.m. Several current and former Vikings will take part in the event.
