Record-seekers vs. Packers
GAME NOTES vs. PACKERS
Jared Allen set a team record for most sacks after the first nine games. He now has 13.5 after being credited with one against the Packers, topping Keith Millard (1989) and Alan Page (1976), who each had 13 after nine games.
Allen moved into fifth place in the NFL for most sacks after the first nine games since 1982. Mark Gastineau set the record pace after nine games with 16.5 sacks in 1984, following by Reggie White at 16 in 1987, with a tie at 15 between Michael Strahan (2001) and Derrick Thomas (1990).
Allen moved into ninth place in team history for career sacks with 53.5 as a Viking, trailing Carl Eller (130), Jim Marshall (127), John Randle (114) , Alan Page (108.5), Chris Doleman (96.5), Doug Martin (60.5) and Henry Thomas (53.5).
Adrian Peterson tied Bill Brown for the team record with 42 career games with a rushing touchdown.
Peterson moved into ninth place for most yards rushing in a player's first five NFL seasons. Peterson now has 6,628 career rushing yards in his fifth season. By getting to 7,000, he would move into fourth place. The top three spots for rushing yards in their first five seasons are Eric Dickerson (8,256), LaDainian Tomlinson (7,361) and Emmitt Smith (7,183).
Peterson moved into a third-place tie for most rushing touchdowns in a player's first five seasons. He has 62, trailing only Smith (71) and Tomlinson (72) in their first five seasons.
Peterson now has his fifth consecutive season with at least 10 rushing touchdowns, an ongoing Vikings record.
Peterson becomes only the second Vikings player to gain 1,000 yards vs. an opponent in a career, gaining 1,033 yards against Green Bay. Robert Smith holds the team record with 1,088 yards against Detroit from 1993-2000.
Antoine Winfield became only the fourth Vikings player in team history to start 100 games at cornerback, but is likely done for the season after fracturing his clavicle. Only Carl Lee (144), Bobby Bryant (128) and Ed Sharockman (126) have started more.
Percy Harvin moved into seventh place for most receptions in a Viking's first three seasons. Harvin has 168 catches in his career so far.
Harvin becomes the first wide receiver in team history to gain 200-plus yards rushing in a season. Harvin now has 203 yards rushing this season.
Harvin reached 2,000 yards receiving in 38 games, the sixth-fastest in Vikings history. Randy Moss holds the record with 26 games needed to reach that milestone.
Christian Ponder's 34 passing attempts tie a team record by a rookie (Tommy Kramer and Fran Tarkenton also had 34 attempts in a game in their rookie seasons).
Randall Cobb's 80-yard punt return was the third-longest by an opponent in Vikings history. Devin Hester's 89-yard return for a touchdown in 2007 still holds the lead.
