Record-seekers vs. Redskins
GAME NOTES vs. REDSKINS
Toby Gerhart set a team record for most rushing yards in a game in the Redskins series. He had 109, marking his first career 100-yard rushing game. Robert Smith had the previous best (103 yards) against the Redskins.
Gerhart set a team record for longest run in the Redskins series, a 67-yarder, which was also his career longest run.
Gerhart's rushing average in a game (minimum 10 attempts) ranks seventh in Vikings history. He averaged 9.9 yards per carry against Washington, tying him with Adrian Peterson's average from his record-setting game against the San Diego Chargers on Nov. 4, 2007.
Adrian Peterson set a team record for most seasons with 200-plus rushing attempts. It was the fifth consecutive season he had 200 or more carries, topping the previous mark he shared with Smith and Chuck Foreman.
Peterson becomes only the second Viking to rush for 1,300-plus yards in the month of December for a career. He has 1,303 in five Decembers, trailing only Bill Brown (1,311 yards in 13 Decembers).
Peterson becomes the ninth player in team history to reach 400 career points. He now has 402.
Joe Webb's five passing attempts rank second for fewest pass attempts needed in a game to throw two touchdowns. Wade Wilson threw two touchdowns on two passes against the Los Angeles Raider on Nov. 8, 1987.
Webb had his second rushing touchdown of the season. He now ranks fourth for most rushing touchdowns in a Vikings quarterback's first two seasons. Tarkenton had seven in 1961-62, Daunte Culpepper had seven in 1999-2000, and Joe Kapp had five in 1967-68.
Christian Ponder set a team record for most games started by a rookie QB with his ninth start Saturday, surpassing Fran Tarkenton's eight from 1961.
Jared Allen moved into second place for most sacks (18.5) in a Viking's season. He passed Keith Millard (1989) and Alan Page (1976), who each had 18, but Allen still trails Chris Doleman's 21-sack season from 1989.
Mistral Raymond intercepted his first career pass, which also ended the Vikings' drought for most consecutive games without an interception, an NFL record nine straight games.
