The NFL Players Association may make another attempt through federal court to challenge Roger Goodell's powers regarding the disciplining of Saints players in the "bounty" case, CBSSports.com reported.
If the previous decisions on the penalties to Jonathan Vilma, Anthony Hargrove, Scott Fujita and Will Smith, are upheld, the NFLPA may try to make the case that Goodell should not have full authority in this matter because on-field discipline is the domain of Ted Cottrell and Art Shell, who were hired by the NFL and the NFPA.
Former Falcons star Anderson arrested for DUI
Former Atlanta Falcons running back Jamal Anderson was arrested for drunken driving Sunday morning, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
Anderson, 39, was pulled over at 4:30 a.m. He was taken to DeKalb County, Ga., jail, and he was released after posting bail.
Anderson rushed for a franchise-record 1,846 yards in the 1998 season, when he helped the Falcons to their only Super Bowl berth. A knee injury two years later led to the end of his playing career.
Anderson was among the more than 100 retired players who sued the NFL, alleging league officials hid the dangers of concussions from them.
Nicks says he'll be on field when camp starts
New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks, who broke his foot last month, said in a radio interview he will be on the field when training camp begins on July 26.
He told WFNZ-AM in Charlotte over the weekend that he's out of his walking boot and will begin running soon.
"Definitely making training camp,": he said, according to SportsRadioInverviews.com. "I start running in about two weeks, but the coaches don't really want me to force the issue right now, so I still haven't started running yet. They want me to just take my time with it – they feel like that's what's best. So right now I'm just taking my time with it. ... But I'll definitely be ready for the season."
Nicks injured the foot during OTAs last month. He had 76 receptions for 1,192 yards and seven touchdowns in 2011.
