The Vikings signed third-round draft choice Josh Robinson on Wednesday, about 24 hours before players are to report for training camp. Robinson's signing leaves only first-rounder Matt Kalil among the 10 draft choices for the Vikings to get under contract.
Robinson, selected 66th overall out of Central Florida, is expected to compete for a starting job at cornerback.
Robinson, a three-year starter in college, started 11 games as a true freshman in 2009, finishing with 69 tackles, eight passes defensed and six interceptions. He started all 13 games as a sophomore, making 59 tackles with 13 passes broken up and two interceptions. He also was the team's primary punt returner, averaging 15.2 yards per return. As a junior in 2011, he started all 12 games he played, recording 48 tackles with 15 passes broken up and two interceptions.
He was the fastest timed player at the NFL Scouting Combine, running a 4.32 40-yard dash and led cornerbacks in broad jump (11-1) and three-cone drill (6.55 seconds) and second in vertical jump (38½ inches).
Robinson's four-year contract is worth $3.015 million with a $697,000 signing bonus, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
