Edwards Has Ties To New Offer

Mike Edwards talks about his newest offer and the ties to the program already in place.

Recruiting is starting to take off for Cincinnati (Ohio) Winton Woods defensive back Mike Edwards as he adds another top offer from the Louisville Cardinals.

Edwards, who has ties to the Cardinals program with former teammate Dominique Brown, has heard nothing but good things so far.

"I know they just won the Sugar Bowl this year," said Edwards. "One of my former teammates, Dominique Brown, is there now and I've talked with him about them and know they are real and have a good defense."

Brown has made it known Edwards would fit in well with the Cardinals.

"Dominique has said they are really good and that Coach (Charlie) Strong is a great guy," said Edwards. "He said I would be a good fit and that it's an overall good place.

"I've never been down there but plan on visiting for a spring practice, the spring game or sometime this summer."

After spending the past week focused on a couple of programs, Edwards is starting to see just where his recruitment could lead him.

"I've already seen a couple of schools that I like," said Edwards. "Schools like Kentucky and Illinois along with those that offer I'm showing interest back. "So when a new school offers I get really interested in learning what they have to offer."

As for the other programs making contact, Edwards is hearing from several.

"Georgia Tech, Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, West Virginia and Cincinnati have been talking with me," said Edwards. "I thought Georgia Tech was about to offer me, but I've not heard back from them yet."

Michigan is another program Edwards has some ties and he's encourage by what he's heard about the Wolverines.

"I talk with Antonio Poole all the time," said Edwards. "He tells me Michigan likes me and if I visit he wants to show me around. So he's encouraging me to come up there for a visit."
