The Vikings have agreed to a two-year deal with free-agent linebacker Erin Henderson, making him the sixth unrestricted free agent from the Vikings to re-sign with the team on Tuesday.
The Vikings also agreed to terms with RT Phil Loadholt, FB Jerome Felton, WR Jerome Simpson, C Joe Berger, Henderson and S Jamarca Sanford during the first day of free agency.
Henderson signed a one-year contract last year and was looking for long-term security. He said he didn't own a home yet.
"I just hope that my body of work speaks for myself and is enough. I just want to take care of my family, man, and do some of the things that I've always dreamed of being able to do. I feel like I'm close to it and I just hope it can get done," Henderson said after the season.
"I've always wanted my own home. I've always wanted to own a house, but I want my house to be laid out. I want it to be for a king. I want my house to be my home, my palace, so I've been very patient with that. Other than that, it's just making sure that generations after me can have something to look forward to."
Henderson was fourth on the Vikings last year with 112 tackles, including 10 for a loss, and had three sacks, two quarterback hurries, three passes defensed and one forced fumble.
He played in 14 games, missing two in late September because of a concussion, and started 10 games.
"I've been here for five years. This is all I know," Henderson said. "I've called Minnesota home. I have a Minnesota license now. Everything. I feel like I've built a pretty good foundation here. I've come a long way in my five years that I've been a part of this organization. I appreciate the time and effort that they've put into me. I look forward to giving back to them."
