Using roster room created by the release of punter Chris Kluwe and rookie receiver Nicholas Edwards, the Vikings signed offensive tackle Brandon Keith and rookie WR Adam Thielen Monday.
Keith is a four-year veteran of the NFL and took part in the Vikings' "rookie minicamp" over the weekend, which was used as a tryout for almost three dozen players in addition to the work that the nine draft picks and 16 undrafted rookies under contract received. Keith was a seventh-round draft pick of the Arizona Cardinals in 2008 and played in 26 games, including 20 starts, over his four years with Arizona. He went to college at Northern Iowa.
The Vikings' other signing, Thielen, went to college even closer to home. He was a standout receiver with Minnesota State, Mankato, the campus on which the Vikings have their training camp every summer.
Thielen (6-foot-3, 200 pounds) had 74 receptions for 1,176 yards and eight touchdowns in 2012 for the Mavericks. According to the Mankato Free Press, he finished his career ranked second in school history with 198 catches and third with 2,802 yards and 20 touchdowns. He can also return punts.
