The Vikings have agreed to a one-year contract with defensive lineman Corey Wootton that is worth $1.5 million and he could earn another $500,000 in incentives, according to FOX Sports.
Wootton was a fourth-round draft pick of the Chicago Bears in 2010, offering versatility as a defensive end and defensive tackle. He has played in all 32 games for the Bears the last two seasons, starting 22 of them. Last year, he had 34 tackles, three sacks, five passes defensed and one forced fumble.
In 2012, Wootton had 27 tackles, seven sacks, one pass defensed and two forced fumbles. He didn't start any games in his first two seasons.
Wootton had arthroscopic hip surgery in January, according to the Chicago Tribune, to repair an injury that had been bothering him for two years.
He marks the third outside free agent on the defensive line the Vikings have signed in the last weeks, joining defensive tackles Linval Joseph and Tom Johnson. The Vikings also re-signed defensive tackle Fred Evans, one of their own free agents.
