But by tendering Harris at that level, they at least have the option to match an offer the offensive tackle could get from another team. For the meantime, however, Harris’ one-year tender is set at $1.542 million. He can negotiate with any club until April 24 or until signing his tender, whichever comes first.
Harris started five games for the Vikings last in place of the injured Phil Loadholt at right tackle. For his career, Harris has started 17 of 32 games played.
The Vikings signed their other restricted free agent, running back Matt Asiata, to a one-year contract on Monday, taking him off the market. They have also reached contract terms with two of their unrestricted free agents – defensive tackle Tom Johnson and long snapper Cullen Loeffler – in advance of the 3 p.m. Central start to free agency on Tuesday and have at least expressed an interest in trying to retain at least one more.
Their other unrestricted free agents – OL Joe Berger, MLB Jasper Brinkley, OL Vladimir Ducasse, FB Jerome Felton, G Charlie Johnson, QB Christian Ponder and DE Corey Wootton – remained unsigned prior to the start of free agency.
