The Minnesota Vikings signed former Green Bay Packers running back DuJuan Harris to a one-year deal on Thursday. Before his time in Green Bay, Harris also played for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Pittsburgh Steelers.
It was a move to add depth to the running back position, which was tested in 2014. Harris, 26, has played three years in the NFL and recorded 59 carries for 263 yards and two touchdowns in the regular season.
His best season came in 2012 with the Packers when he played in just four games but recorded 34 rushing attempts for 157 yards and two touchdowns during the regular season. That year he also recorded 28 rushing attempts for 100 yards and two touchdowns during the postseason.
Not only does Harris add depth to the running back position, but he also has experience in the return game. In 20 games, Harris has returned 36 kickoffs for 764 yards – his longest return was for 41 yards.
With the addition of Harris, the Vikings now have seven running backs on their roster. The others are Adrian Peterson, Matt Asiata, Jerick McKinnon, Joe Banyard, Henry Josey and Dominique Williams.
