B.J. DuBose NFL bio

The history of the Minnesota Vikings’ sixth-round defensive end.

B.J. Dubose
Defensive End
University of Louisville Cardinals
Oakland Park, Florida
Northeast High School

Dubose was a three-star defensive end recruit out of high school, but while he was recruited heavily by his home state Miami Hurricanes, he decided to join head coach Charlie Strong at Louisville. After red-shirting in 2010, the defensive end saw three starts in 2011, recording 22 tackles, 3.5 stops-for-loss and a pair of sacks.

Dubose started four games in 2012 as a sophomore and finished with 15 tackles, but had just an assisted stop behind the line of scrimmage while spending the season in the coach’s doghouse. He did not make the trip to Pittsburgh for what the staff called was called “a bad week of practice.” Two games later, he was suspended for the final five games of the season with three other teammates for an unknown off-the-field incident.

Needing to make amends with the staff and to show Dubose with some “tough love,” he was relegated to second-unit duties for 2013, finishing with 16 tackles that included 1.5 sacks and four stops-for-loss. For the first time as a Cardinal, he was a full-time starter as a senior. The right defensive end registered 41 tackles on the way to receiving All-Atlantic Coast Conference honorable mention, as he posted four sacks among his 7.5 stops behind the line of scrimmage.
